Abstract: Recently, augmented estimation techniques  have received much attention in control systems community and industrial  sectors, owing to its interesting reconstruction ability for unknown  disturbances and faults. In this talk, recent research results on descriptor  augmented estimators are introduced. It will be shown on how the faults can be  estimated and how the estimated signals can be utilized for fault tolerant  design. Furthermore, the application of the augmented estimation techniques to  the estimation of the perturbed terms caused by time-varying output delays is  addressed as well, which can be utilized to improve control system performance  by using sensor signal compensations. The engineering-oriented examples with  real-data verification are presented to demonstrate the results  provided.
